The Church
We become a part of the body of Christ, or the church when we enter into a relationship with Christ. The church is universal but is always expressed locally. The church is the visible and local demonstration of the new community that Christ came to create. The main responsibility of the church is to connect people outside of the relationship with Christ by sharing God’s love and grace, helping those who respond to become people who follow Christ with their whole lives.
The Existence of God
God is. He is there. He is the real God, the God who really exists. He says of Himself, “I am what I am” (Ex. 3:14). He is one God, eternal and self-existing in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) who are to be equally loved, honored, and adored-humanity. He exists eternally without origin or change. He self-exists.
Bible
The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Romans 15:4, Matthew 7:24, Hebrews 4:12.
God's Plan of Salvation
The Sovereign God, for no other reason than His own unfathomable love and mercy, has chosen lost sinners from every nation to be redeemed by the quickening power of the Holy Spirit and through the atoning death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 3.23-25; 5:1; 6.23; Ephesians 2.8-9, John 3:3, Acts 2:38, I Peter 3:20, 21; Mark 16:16, Titus 3:5, 1 Corinthians 12:13. Perseverance Those sinners whom the Spirit quickens, come to believe in Christ as Savior by the Word of God, are born again, become sons of God, and will persevere to the end.
Justification Through Gifts of Grace and Faith
Justification is by faith and through it the undeserving sinner is clothed with the righteousness of Christ.
New Life
The goal of God’s salvation in the life of the Christian is holiness, good works, and service for the glory of God Ephesians 2:10.
Death
At death the Christian’s soul passes immediately into the presence of God and the unbeliever’s soul is eternally separated from God unto condemnation.
Water Baptism
The word Baptism comes from the Greek word Baptizo which means to immerse or dip. To baptize something, then, means to completely submerge it in a liquid. In a biblical sense, to baptize a person in water means to put that person completely under the water, then immediately raise him or her up again. According to the Bible, water baptism is a symbolic act whereby a new Christian identifies with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection (Romanians 6: 4).
The Resurrection of Christ
-
"And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith." (1 Cor. 15:14).” "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins." (1 Cor. 15:17)”.
-
To deny the physical resurrection is to deny that Jesus' work was a satisfactory offering to God the Father. It would mean that Jesus was corrupt and needed to stay in the grave. But, he did not stay because his sacrifice was perfect.
-
These verses clearly state that if you say that Jesus did not rise from the dead (in the same body He died in-John 2:19-21, then your faith is useless.
-
The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Muslims deny Jesus' physical resurrection. Therefore, they are outside of Christianity.
The Return of Christ
Jesus Christ will return to earth, visibly and bodily, at a time when He is not expected, to raise the dead and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. 1 Thessalonian 4:13-17, Acts 1:11, 3:19-21, 2 Thessalonian 2:1, 1 Corinthians 11:26, 15:5154, Philippians 3:20-21, Revelation 22:20, Titus 2:13-14, Matthew 24; Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:15, 21:8; Revelation 21:2-4, 22:3-5, 22:14
Scripture is foundation
We believe God is brilliant, His words are true, and He reveals Himself through the Bible. And because we long to know Him more, we build our lives upon His words, seeking always to know, understand, and obey His voice above all others. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Prayer is our posture
For us, prayer is not just a practice; it’s our posture before God. In humility, we recognize that we are dependent upon Him for our every breath. Whether speaking or listening, waiting or working, we don’t want to do anything without Him at the center of our thoughts. So we fix our hearts on Him in prayer that we might keep in step with His Spirit in all that we do. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
The Character of Christ is our aim
As disciples of Jesus, we want to know Him, live like Him, and teach others to do the same. We hold to God’s promise that He Himself will sanctify us, using all that we encounter in this life to form in us the glorious character of Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:18)
Authentic Relationships are our way of life
We believe the gospel takes root in our lives as we come authentically to God and one another. We speak the truth in love. We confess our sins to one another and pray for one another. We rejoice together. We mourn together. We apologize and forgive. We build one another up in all that we say and do. (Romans 12:9-21)
The Next Generation is our future
We are always looking to the next generation of disciples who might come to know Jesus and follow Him. From men and women of all ages to the little kids in our midst, we have a heart for impacting the future with the work we do now. And we are particularly passionate about planting churches in university communities so we might always be impacting the next generation of college students. (2 Timothy 2:2)
Generosity is our joy
To encounter Jesus is to come alive with joy and gratitude. As people who are in awe of the generosity of God, we cannot help but give generously in turn. And having tasted the riches of His grace, it is our joy to share our time, talents, and treasure with others. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
Justice is our charge
Living righteously with one another and in relationship with our neighbor is not a suggestion. It is our charge. And where there are acts of injustice and systems of oppression, we are called to engage prayerfully, courageously, honorably, and with a listening ear. (Micah 6:8)
Church-Planting is our passion
We want to be a mother church, not a mega-church. That means we plant churches that plant churches. In this way, we get to see the Kingdom of God spread to new people and places, and we continuously fan the flames of our own faith as well. (Matthew 28:18-20) .
